"White sandy beaches, nearby deserted islands, great diving, great seafood, and then there is the heavy nightlife with cheap drinks.
All this makes this place a favorite among travelers.
This was once a very shady city, but has become a mecca for backpackers. It is not a quiet place to rest, but it is a good place to enjoy life, or to use as a base to visit the nearby islands, which are quiet and serene."
Sihanoukville Railway Station is the southern end of the train route from Phnom Penh. This track goes 264 km to the southeast and stops at the cities of Takeo and Kampot on the route to Sihanoukville.
Due to the years of disuse (in the Pol Pot period) and the currently limited reintroduction of train services, Sihanoukville Railway Station is a somewhat dilapidated building that needs to be modernized. Some facilities must also be expanded to make the station more comfortable for train passengers. The only facilities at Shanoukville train station are the public toilets on the platform. There is nowhere to eat in the station and there are no shops.Due to the years of disuse (in the Pol Pot period) and the currently limited reintroduction of train services, Sihanoukville Railway Station is a somewhat dilapidated building that needs to be modernized. What is, however, is a large group and taxi and motorbike drivers waiting in the arrivals hall when a train from Phnom Penh stops in Sihanoukville. There are no fixed prices for taxis and you have to negotiate a price before you leave. The price will vary depending on the price that you agree with. The taxi driver believes, undoubtedly, asks a high price when you start negotiating. As a guideline, you do not spend more than $ 5 USD per motorcycle taxi and $ 10 USD per normal taxi with a ride to all local beach areas.
Sihanoukville train station has an old-fashioned counter surrounded by security bars. The ticket counter only opens around the time when a train must depart.
If you have a fixed departure date from Sihanoukville, consider booking your train tickets online or when you are in Phnom Penh train station when planning a return trip.
Friday trains are generally less busy than Saturday and Sunday trips, but it is best to buy your ticket a few days in advance to make sure you can travel. For public holidays: the sooner the better, because trains only carry around 100 passengers.
