BUS STATION
Sihanoukville

"Sihanoukville has a new busterminal since. The busses start at the office of the company and make a stopover at the busterminal. The ancient bus terminal next to the market is not existing anymore. GST bus company has it's own guesthouse on Ochheuteal and tries to bring travellers from the bus right to their guesthouse, it's head office is in city upon ancient Freedom bar where initially the bus station was. All other head offices are within a 500m distance on Ekareach Mainroad before and after Total gas station. Capitol between the 2 gas stations, Mekong Express opposite Capitol and Sorya a bit before the big turn."

The new bus station is located near Victory Hill on an isolated street. It's about a 5 minute walk to Victory Hill, 5 minute ride to downtown, and 10 minute ride to Ocheteaul, Sokha, and Serendipity Beaches. Tuk Tuks (carts pulled by a motorcycle), cars and motorcycle taxis are all around the bus station. They have fixed prices (many times the price is more than the 5 hour bus ride from Phnom Penh for a 5 minute ride), but you can negotiate a better price, or just walk to the street and get transportation.

Most buses are $4-$6 for the trip. Some companies charge more from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville than from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh. The bus ride is usually a minimum of 5 hours. Most busses stop half way for a 15 minute break at a restaurant. Other direct destinations include Koh Kong and Kampot. Some companies offer services to Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap through a connection in Phnom Penh.

All these express busses may stop several times on the trip to pick up or drop off riders. Or just for no reason at all.
