Siem Reap
As soon as you step out of the plane, you’ll be greeted by the humid Cambodian air seeing that you'll be walking from the plane to the building in the open
air. The walk isn’t far at all, because they literally park the plane in front of the arrival hall. There are mainly two types of visas for travellers: the tourist visa (20
US dollars and is valid for 30 days, not renewable) and the business visa (25 US dollars and is valid for 30 days, but can be renewed multiple times. You
need also a passport photo (3x4 cm) The process of applying for a visa is simple, but you do have to wait while it is processed. The airport sits 6km from town, close to the temples, occasionally affording spectacular views of Angkor Wat
during landings and take offs. Outside the terminal is a ticket booth for registered taxis into town. Independent taxis and motorcycles wait just outside
the airport. The price is the same for both: motorcycles are $1 and cars are $5 into town. Most hotels offer free transportation from the airport but you must
notify them in advance of your arrival.
